Bush's Man-Date? Update

R1860011963There's some eye-opening news unfolding over at DailyKos, where it's been discovered that Jeff Gannon, aka Jim Guckert, a conservative "reporter" for Talon News Service, owns numerous domain names, including,,, and and an allegedly legit shirtless AOL profile.

Why does it matter? Site Media Matters accuses Gannon of being a plant and lobbing soft questions in order to steer press secretary Scott McClellan away from difficult topics when other reporters hit him hard regarding Iraq and the proposed marriage amendment. A hypocrite mole in the press corps? We'll see how this develops.

UPDATE: Jeff Gannon abruptly retires from Talon News.

Rep. Louise Slaughter (NY) requests investigation: "...And just this morning we have learned that "Mr. Gannon" has resigned his post at the, so called, Talon News amid growing concerns over his controversial background and falsified qualifications. In fact, it appears that "Mr. Gannon's" presence in the White House press corps was merely as a tool of propaganda for your Administration."

UPDATE: Gannon had the only known access to a memo referred to in an interview with Joseph Wilson, which named his wife Valerie Plame as a covert CIA agent.

  2. (Not) Jeff Gannon has a blog. Hilarious.

Can politics get anymore surreal? There's some speculation going on about whether "Jeff Gannon"/James D. "JD" Guckert was formerly the in question. Did the White House give a gay male escort a pseudonym and press clearance to lob talking points to Bush during his press conferences? Or perhaps the sites were being used to entrap and identify gay service members.

Politics: not just for ugly people anymore

And what is with all these self-hating gays so high up in the party?! Mary Cheney, David Dreier, Ken Mehlman, Ed Shrock. It's freakin' bizarre!

  4. Absolutely! Gays shouldn't hate themselves. They should be like paleoliberal gays who only hate gays who disagree with them! THE NERVE!

  5. First we find they have been paying off so-called "pundits" (with taxpayer $). Now they seem to be creating artificial reporters to manipulate press conferences. Could a second term scandal be brewing? We know that there are no depths too low for Rove & co. to stoop.

How convenient for you to reduce my outrage toward these prominent gay figures to nothing more than spite. Do tell, how would you justify Mehlman's cynical anti-gay tactics, Mary Cheney's work as an out & open lesbian on behalf of her father, Dreier's and Shrock's voting records, and "Gannon's" eager help in promoting Bush's anti-gay agenda? What principles other than cowardice, self-hatred, and naked, self-serving ambition reconcile these people's personal identities with their actions and records?

  9. Dude, the Only Known Access line is way debunked. Get with the program. It's nice to see that the Left, having embraced anti-Semitism, is now practicing homophobia. No wonder liberalism has so little influence. And it may come as a shock, but legislators actually represent their constituents, not themselves. Gays whining about intolerant society have NO credibility. I'm sorry but they don't
