Jeff Gannon is Back, Big Time

Americablog dug deep and found the goods on Jeff Gannon/Jim Guckert, the White House reporter for Talon News who resigned last week amid accusations of lobbing soft questions to Bush's press secretary. Naked photos, cock shots, escorting, watersports — this story just gets crazier and crazier, folks.

From AmericaBlog:

"Ultimately, it is the hypocrisy that is such a challenge to grasp in this story. This is the same White House that ran for office on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. While they are surrounded by gay hookers? While they use a gay hooker to write articles for their gay hating political base? While they use a gay hooker to destroy a political enemy? Not to mention the hypocrisy of a "reporter" who chooses to publish article after article defending the ant-gay religious-right point of view on gay civil rights issue.

Who in the White House is at the center of all of this? Who allowed this to go on in the People's House? Who committed the crime of exposing Valerie Plame? Jeff Gannon has the answers to these questions, and boy we know he loves to talk."

  3. My God! I'm repulsed by looking at everyone of those pictures. I'm mean I can't imagine he's worth the money...just me.

I can't wait til it comes out the Carl Rove was one of his John's (that's how rumors get started)

  4. Is it just me, or does this whole Jeff Gannon thing parallel one of the story lines in "Angels in America"...?

  5. Karl Rove would be funny if the thought weren't so gross. But, RawStory suggests that our favorite gay-hustler-turned-faux-journalist's connection just might be Bush's press sec'y, Scott McLellan. Curiouser and curiouser...

  6. This is beginning to sound more like a poorly-written QAF season finale slash Armisted Maupin short story. Please wake me up when it's over.

    BTW, great catch!

  11. 'While they are surrounded by gay hookers?'

    The evidence for that is?

I might be missing something but what did the White House do but allow a member of the press into press conferences? What that reporter did in a previous life is surely his business.

  12. Sorry Bill, what the White House did was allow a male escort with no journalistic background have access to the White House, under an assumed name.

I can't get take a flight from Orlando to Miami without three forms of ID and a copy of my immunization records from the 3rd grade, but Gannon was within the sight line of the leader of the free world using a false name.

Add to that he asked soft pro-republican questions of the President and various White House staffers during his tenure and the fact there is apparently strong evidence that Gannon was involved in the exposure of CIA agent Valerie Plame. While you're at it, you can also add the fact that Gannon can be connected to various Conservative think tanks and republican political organizations in Texas.

Sure, the president himself probably had nothing to do with Gannon having access to the White House, but someone in the adminstration with enough power to get the Secret Service to look the other way during background checks did.

  13. Well, it turns out our "friend" owes the State of Delaware about $28,000.00 in back taxes, penalty and interest for not filing tax returns. It just keeps getting better!!

  14. Had the Net been around decades before, we'd, no doubt, have a much larger assortment of detailed, juicy exposes of publically closeted right wing fags to fluff our Schadenfreude with. While California governor, there were rumors that many of the men behind (ahem) Reagan kissed boys. It is a documented fact that one, as I recall the state GOP head, was arrested in the men's room in Macy's San Francisco for soliciting more than votes. After RR left office, and about to embark on his run for the GOP presidential nomination, closeted gay advisor Don Livingston helped get LA activists David Mixner and Peter Scott a super secret meeting--at an East LA Denny's where no A-Gay would see them--with a married gay GOPer, even deeper in the closet and closer to RR. The eventual result was Reagan publicly coming out--against the Briggs initiative to fire gay teachers, probably the only good thing the Gipper ever did for us. Then there was New Right darling Terry Dolan, whose mail campaigns killed the career of several liberals almost as quickly as AIDS killed him from which he died in his closet. Congressman Robert Bauman is little more than a scandal footnote. Except for the Johnson aide busted at the DC YMCA years before the Village Peeps peaked, Dems have been pretty lucky. With the ratio of the rabid so much higher in Congress now, I doubt that Gerry Studs would have gotten off so easily after paging his Page a little too often. Maybe even Ms. Barney wouldn't have survived the tales of his paramour pimping men from their shared apartment. Gannon's cannon, the new HEAD of the GOP, now his press secretary? Call me old fashioned, but I'll pitch pennies at anything that helps flush Bush's toilet in 2008. They won by telling so many lies about us, what's wrong with using the whole truth to defeat them? Take no prisoners!!!!

  15. Sorry to disagree but I think those photos are hot hot hot. My secret fantasy is that he fucked his way in to that press room...

  16. So using homosexuality to destroy the careers of republicans is okay but doing the same for democrats is homophobia?

Just a note of perspective. An individuals sexual preferences should have NO influence on his professional duties (well save for hustlers).

Now I have as much schadenfreude as the next guy but I have always consider outing people to be in bad taste and ultimately counter productive.

    Pax

  17. "So using homosexuality to destroy the careers of republicans is okay but doing the same for democrats is homophobia?" Yes, when those gay republicans OR democrats or whatever are, themselves, using homophobia to damage others. "Live by the sword, die by the sword." comes to mind. OF COURSE, sexuality SHOULD not be an issue, but we didn't make it an issue in any arena--employment, marriage, adoption, military service, privacy, ad infinitum--except in defense to their actions, historically and more contemporaneously. "Bad taste"? Wake up, girls. Life ain't a make-believe tea party at which people like Gannon are only breaking wind while passing the make-believe crumpets. And, I've never seen any evidence to support the predictable claim that outing even the vilest pig in the yard is "ultimately counterproductive." Pax to you. Pox to them.

  18. 'what the White House did was allow a male escort with no journalistic background have access to the White House, under an assumed name.'

    Which is apparently because:

'he asked soft pro-republican questions of the President and various White House staffers during his tenure'

It's amazing how you Americans build so much on so little when it comes to this present president, pro or anti. This is such a non story.

    Posted by: Bill | Feb 16, 2005 9:36:47 AM

  19. and by 'build' you mean read the newspaper? Gannon said, more than once mind you, that Democrats were out of touch with reality. In a press conference. While talking to a Republican president.

Bill, I'd love to hear why you think a gay hooker started working at the White House and asking questions that made the White House look good and how he was able to convince large numbers of Secret Service people to look the other way.

If your theory involves an orgy, please describe in graphic detail.

    Posted by: Aristan | Feb 16, 2005 12:46:39 PM

  20. I tend to go on facts rather than theories but as you ask it could be that he moved from being an escort to being a reporter and being a GOP supporter asked pro-Bush questions.

What I do find so funny about all these claims and inventions is that on one hand people see the Bush Administration as some Karl Rove run source of all evil and on the other they are stupid and employ former gay (a group that apparently they don't like) escorts, who has stuff about them all over the web, to ask easy questions.

Did Gannon also rig the votes to get Howard dean running the Democrats too or was that the Democrats being really stupid?

    Posted by: Bill | Feb 16, 2005 7:18:30 PM

  21. Since you have said 'you americans', I'm going to assume you may not be familiar with how things run in journalistic circles. The general rule is that when you are working that you are unbiased. Now, being unbiased is hard because human beings have opinions. But you have to appear unbiased while working.

Gannon, who was an amateur journalist at best, was not unbiased. He also got around the Secret Service background check day after day. I work for my college newspaper and have had the chance to hear President Bush and Senator Kerry speak. I was subject to that same background check both times and I didn't get anywhere near as close to Bush as Gannon did. (I did get close enough to get great pictures of Kerry and got to shake his hand.)

Other people I know were turned away from hearing them speak for things as small as possesion of pot. They require things such as your social security number and your full name, as well as any other names you're known by. How Gannon got around this at the White House is a mystery, and a mystery that must be solved for National Security.

That's my point. Someone with a hidden past who was using a fake name was extremely close to the leader of the free world. I don't care if he's gay, an escort, or whatever.

Either the Secret Service was not doing their jobs or the Secret Service was told not to do their jobs. Either way we have to find out who was responsible because it leaves the US in a very vunerable position.

  22. I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I just knew that one day GWB would be caught up in a scandal. That day has finally come. "Rubbing elbows" with what is purported male prostitute is about as good as it gets. LOL And one who changes his name, no less. I detest name changes. It bespeaks "dubious character."

  24. You all take things too seriously. I think Gannon is a hot guy. I'd do him any day. Just because a fellow gay man is a Republican and an escort at the same time it doesn't mean he deserves to be put on the spot like this.
