Lesbian Swans Discovered in Boston

Gayswans

A famous pair of swans in Boston's Public Garden has been discovered to be a lesbian couple, which seems to have upset Parks spokeswoman Mary Hines. You see, the swans are named Romeo and Juliet, and she thinks letting the secret out will ruin the myth.

''Each year when the swans go in, the kids immediately come to us and say, 'Which one's Romeo, and which one's Juliet?' It's just like one of those fairy tales; why spoil it?"

Just come out and say it, Mary. You don't like queers. I'm so sick and tired of these people. Some of them even want to go out and get guy swans for the females. Um, they already tried that with penguins and it raised a big stink! The swans love each other. They are les-bi-ans!

Why not just take the advice of the wiser-than-her-years 15-year-old Emma Stokien, who said, ''If these two swans are happy together, they shouldn't have to have a guy. It's good to have the swans as a symbol of the acceptance in Massachusetts."

Another piece of evidence that time is on our side.

  5. "why spoil it?"

um, how about because it's the truth??! the truth should be stronger than fiction or myths. if you stop clinging to the myth that the animal world strictly models the heterosexual ideal it could be that much easier to grasp homosexuality in ALL it's forms.

  11. This story has really gotten out of hand in the local media. The swans are NOT lesbians. The park only has two swans in the lagoon each year and these two were presumed to be Male and Female. Swans are social with each other and all these two had were each other. The do not display any sexual behavior towards each other, but have instinctly built a nest. This doesn't make them lesbian. They are forced to be together and did not choose to be with a member of the same sex. If two males were introduced to the pond, they each might mate with the males, if not....and they stay together as a couple, then that would prove they are actually lesbian. To leave them be without introducing males to see what their true nature is, would be kinda cruel, don't you think? Homosexuality in all species of animals is a fact. Let's focus on the animals/birds....like the penguins, who are actually gay, and not make these two birds into something they just as well may not be.

  13. I wonder how long it will be before Fred Phelps and his vile "Christian" rejects show up in the park to protest against these Swan's "sins against God." I can just see Phelps, et. al., screaming their apoplectic, hate filled slurs at the school children who've come to the park for a day outing to see the Swans. What a "pretty picture" that would be. Then again, where Phelps is concerned, I wouldn't put something so absurd past him, he's nuts.
