A Gay in the White House?

A woman in the White House is the conceit of ABC's new show Commander in Chief, starring Geena Davis. However, the show's writers may have some more tricks in their closet.

The president's son, Horace Allen, played by baby-faced former Manhunt contestant Matt Lanter, may be revealed to be gay in an upcoming episode. It is rumored that in the coming weeks he will be outed by a tabloid and his twin sister will come to his defense in the face of intense media scrutiny.

Whether or not this is wishful thinking from the legions of gay Lanter fans remains to be seen, but I'd have no qualms about watching Horace Allen and a boyfriend wake up the ghosts in the Lincoln bedroom.

Last week, the show's creator Rod Lurie was replaced by TV veteran Steven Bochco in order to help the show "run more smoothly and get episodes done on time."

  1. Last week during the whole diary mess I thought this might be the case when he was upset that his sister wrote about him. He is very cute and needs some shirtless screen time.

  2. i'm so over shows like this adding a gay character who "comes out". it's not as if the producers will actually do anything with the character except make a media deal that the son is gay.

they should have given geena davis' character a sister who is a power lesbian... that would have been better tv rather another shirtless queer almost caught sucking dick in the white house.

  3. Guytvblog... Who knows, you just might see your idea realized, or both storylines (the whole mother-carried gay gene theory). The writing staff of these shows, and theyr plebes, are well known to trawl the web for such (good) ideas.

  4. This show is so cheesy - and yet, Horace is so incredibly adorable. I just loved him from the first time I saw him in the opening episode - absolutely beautiful...

Let's hope he is gay on the show

  7. Lanter is too obviously gay to get the part of the show's gay character. At least that's the way Hollywood usually works. It may be that surly Chief of Staff who gets outed.

This show has to go wild on social issues, because West Wing is so politically oriented. I think both shows can survive as long they don't seem too much alike.

  8. > Lanter is too obviously gay

    too obviously hunky/ adorable/ delectable/ ready-to-be-dunked-in-redi-whip, yes.

gay, not so much - just because he's beautiful and adorable doesn't mean he's gay, unless you're on A&F-world. Beyond the obvious (he has a girlfriend), Matt actually seems like those straight friends of mine who are good looking and comfortable with their sexuality not to be threatened by a gay guy (me) - except Matt is the one person I would want to convert.

So let's hope we see him doing the do with a dude real soon...

    go matt

(all gorgeous guys must be gay).

  9. Ah, y'know I figured his character was gay after the whole sister's diary thing too. Hey, here's hoping anyway, right?

I'm just glad acting is paying off for him. He has such an adorable face and a friendly demeanor that I became an instant fan during Manhunt.

  10. Look! I'm not the one who said Joran Van der Sloot is gay.

I've heard he was gay, and I've talked to guys who claim to have slept with him, but I never slept with him.

Maybe Joran Van der Sloot is gay. That doesn't make him innnocent. Maybe he killed her because Natalee was with his boyfriend. Maybe his boyfriend is bi-sexual, and killed Natalee, and Joran helped dispose of her body.

All I'm saying is that I never said Joran was gay.

  12. this is a great show. I am not much of a TV watcher, but I actually make time to watch this show.

Yeah, he is a good looking guy, but I think he is such a cheesy actor.

I guess everyone has their own opinion.

  13. I smelled gay from episode 1, but I hope he is not only outed, but in the next season expresses his desire to join the army. If we are going to push the envelope lets push it all the way. She (the president) is an independent so we could explore her feelings on gay issues via her son without any political shock to the shows storyline.

The chief of staff gay? Naw, we have enough gay black males on TV, it is time for a young gauy that isn't on daytime soaps.
