Snapped: Real World Key West Gay Cast Member

Realworldkeywesttyler

A Towleroad operative down in Key West has sent this exclusive photo* of next season's Real World Key West cast member Tyler exchanging a note with a bartender at the Bourbon Street Bar in Key West. It looks like it may be the bartender who appears on the Bourbon Complex's website.

Our operative says he saw the cast out dancing at a club called Aqua. They were accompanied by a uniformed cop "keeping the peace" in the club. The MTV cast has been active about town and that there is a second gay cast member among them. They've also been hosting some late night parties back at the house. The cast's tanning salon (Mystic Tan) is open at the Pineapple Gallery where there is usually a man stationed outside with a clipboard (to handle releases).

The show also has an ad up on a local bulletin board seeking an airbrush artist to assist with Fantasy Fest week activities ("lots of nudity with people getting their breasts and schlongs painted up so they can act like complete idiots"). No word on whether or not they'll be making visits to any gay guesthouses.

Towleroad appreciates the tips. Special thanks to our Key West correspondent.

*UPDATE: The photo of Tyler was shot by Neil Chamberlain who runs the Key West website Pistol & Enema.

  1. over the past few years, i have definitely not missed this packaged material. mother nature is much more consistent. other variety is amusing, yet, no intent to run out and buy an LV steamer. kirk and spock are beautiful.

  2. wow theyre all looking a bit like Paris Hilton with that fake tan. How did the Best Week Ever line go? "I was in the elevator when an Orangie came in, and I'll addmitt, I clutched my purse a little"

  4. Great. MTV officially now only take in Clones when they need gay men.

Whatever happen to lesbians btw? I want a freakin strong black lesbian raising the fist!!!

  6. they've already had 2 gay cast members. it doesn't help the show. the show is so contrived and it replicates itself each and every season. the only thing that changes is the locale. however, as someone who grew up on the Real World, maybe i'm just getting "old." *shrugs*

  7. Nothing against gay people, but it seems that MTV picks the most BORING gay people to become members of the Real World. Every single one is a whiner!! Maybe if they had some interesting gay people who weren't whiners and were cool with themselves and didn't care about what everyone else thought about them I'd be more likely to tune in whenever I hear that a new season will be featuring a gay cast member.

  8. I thinks that gay men on the tv is bad for the generel public. We should take action immediatley and do something before the MTV viewers becomes gay. Has MTV sunkens so low that theys have to try to get a gay audience? That is bad TV. MTV should sell the network to CMT so theys can turn it into a hunters channel with guns and horses and boats and knifes and explosives.

  9. I am a black lesbian female living in the south. I like dick on the side but the gay expierience must be felt throughout the land therefore we must expose this culture to the world of scared lesbians and homosexuals. We must show that it is alright to stand up and say hey I like to eat vagina, or hey its ok that I like to suck dick. Nothing is sexier to me than a person that can be true to themselves and express how they really feel about the human anatomy. I personally enjoy the softness of a womens skin opposed to rough texture of a mans skin. When I watch gays on tv I get educated on life. Word.

  11. This is in response to the comment left by Kevin Mooney...

What do you mean when you ask, "Has MTV sunkens so low that theys have to try to get a gay audience?"

As a gay man, I found this comment rude, and an excellent example of homophobia in today's world. Not only do you hate gays, but you find them to be so inferior that MTV has to be "sinking low" in order to target us as an audience...

Mysteriously enough, they've "sunken" so low as to even create a new network FOR gay/lesbian/bi/trans people...wow! That's a whole new low, isn't it?

Maybe you shouldn't sink so low as to blatantly dismiss an entire population of human beings, and do your research next time about MTV, and their business ventures...they're very gay-friendly, in case you haven't noticed. They're aimed towards teens-20somethings, and the general consensus in this age-range is that gay is ok!

  12. Well said, Seth. At least someone else out there had the same point of view of MTV as I do. I am an "in-the-closet" 18 year old and when I see another gay teen on MTV being accepted by other individuals it brings my hopes up to be myself in social situations. I see that a gay man can succeed in the world and be accepted on an everyday basis. GO MTV!

On a different note, there's absolutely no reason to log onto a gay message board and ridicule homosexuals. In other words, I thinks you should finds yourself another message board.

  13. In response to Kevin Mooney's comment as well,

MTV and CMT are both owned by the same company (Viacom).

"guns and horses and boats and knifes and explosives"...
so is that your definition of masculinity?

    *shakes head*

    Seth, *high five*

I'm personally wondering when there will be an Asian American male on The Real World.

  14. Oh, and Kevin dear, I forgot to mention that Viacom also owns LOGO (channel for LGBT audience AND part of MTV Networks~ VERY gay-friendly!)

    :]

  15. having gay opeople is definitely presents a refeshingly good change to the ones we have today. It sort of let the people know certain sides of the gay community that many dont bother to know.
yeah, totally agree with JC here. Seeing gay contestant being accepted by other contestant made me feel a lot better of what could have happen if i just came out

  17. I just want to reply to what "kelly" said and assure you that Tyler will be anything but boring and self absorbed...as his cousin I will guarantee that this upcoming season with Tyler will surprise those who have had this attitude towards past homosexual cast members. I personally can't wait to watch him because he belongs in front of the camera and will be absolutly intriguing to watch !!!
