Representative John Murtha's appearance on Meet the Press over the weekend was articulate and powerful.

Santa Fe retirement community for gays ready to open: "It not only will have gourmet cooking classes, but also rowdy drag queen shows and gay pride parades. And it is seen less as a place to quietly savor the golden years than a place to boisterously savor the very way of life that many of the residents have spent decades fighting to have society see as acceptable."
New musical based on the music of The Smiths gets Morrissey and Marr's seal of approval. "Some Girls are Bigger than Others" has been touring the UK and has plans for New York soon. "It consists of a wild and witty series of gestures, tableaux, dance moves and video projections. The show features a cast of six (four women and two men) singing Smiths songs in Brechtian bellows while accompanied by a stark string quartet and a rash of disruptive drum loops."

I watched Murtha last night, and read his pice reprinted in the paper. While I don't agree 100% with him, I do feel he's sincere and acting in good-faith and with great personal-honesty. Which is more than I can say for the leaders of EITHER PARTY at the moment.
And if the Iraqi elections go well and their army has another 6-months of training is it so unreasonable to say that in 12-months we could seriously reduce the troop-levels in Iraq? I think overall we should assume that the bulk of the troops will becoming-home in the next 12-24 months anyway. But also recognising that perhaps 15,000 might be stationed there permanently atleast for the next 10-20 years as part of a regional strategy. On bases and airfields providing "regional security", not patrolling the streets no engaging in counter-terrorism or border interdiction on a day-to-day basis.
To assume that we would withdraw ALL our troops is naive. We still have troops in Germany and Japan, and in Cuba.

Has anyone noticed that Casey Stratton looks like Data (Brent Spiner) from Star Trek: Next Gen?

The alternative to becoming 'old' is to push up daisies... given that choice isn't it a wise decision to make the best of it?
