Sony Bravia Commercial with Balls

Bravia

This is one of the most gorgeous TV commercials I've seen in a long time, for the new Sony Bravia TV. Last July, Danish director Nicolai Fuglsig filmed 250,000 rubber balls bouncing down the streets of San Francisco. All the cars are props, because obviously these balls can dent. And the crew was required to wear protective helmets and shields. This is the result. Also, check out the behind-the-scenes videos.
(thanks dave)

  1. Thank you for this. Amazing how good it made me feel after a shitty weekend. SF, sun, little doggies, cowering children, ahhhhh.... I was convinced to go and buy the TV 10 seconds into the commercial. Do you know the title and singer of the sound track?

  3. Apparently, he's a Swedish singer, José González. What a great song.

  5. I believe the original version of that song is by The Knife http://www.theknife.net/music/index.html I don't much care for this Jack Johnsonized version of it. There's a wonderful mix by Rex The Dog and an even better one by Black Strobe.

  6. That was filmed in my neighborhood...in fact, my apartment cameos in it. :-) They broke a few people's windows doing that, and it was kind of a pain in the ass while they were filming it, but it's cool how it turned out.

I also have one of the little balls. :-)

  14. Hi, Great commercial only I wonder if the frog was also waring protected clothing?
Or was it one of the crew-members in a Halloween-outfit?

  19. There is a clip on the net called "Mine2"
    http://files.bf2s.com/details.php?file=361
that has a version of this commercial in which bunches of video game soldiers are hopping down streets and such to the same music. In a way, it could almost be viewed as a tribute to soldiers killed in battle - like in that M*A*S*H episode, with the dead people's spirits all walking off down the road. If you find the full length clip, about 192mb, the "commercial is about halfway through, although the whole clip itself is pretty good.

  20. The process is considered to be advantageous because everything is done in real time.
