The Cult of Brokeback Begins...
There are fans, and then there are superfans...
Towleroad reader Joe from Detroit (below) loves Brokeback Mountain. So much so that he commissioned Detroit artist Brandon Garrison to create an oil painting of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal from a Brokeback still. The sketch for the painting is featured above, and Joe promises to send Towleroad an image of the final product when it's finished.
Joe, what are you doing in Detroit? I think it's time you got yourself to Wyoming.

I am not sure what I think about urban cowboys. Is it drag? Is it fetish? Is it hot? Not sure.
Maybe I can get the artist to do an oil of Kate Bush for me.

Looks more like two escapees from Sing Sing. Joe ought to save his money until he can find an artist who works without a seeing-eye dog.

Uhh, the link to the NewYorker "Brokeback" short story seems to no longer be active.
Is it available anywhere else?
I'm tryin' to get everyone I know to read it, as the movie may never make it to my hick town.
