road.jpg Bush names anti-gay Baptist minister to Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

road.jpg Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was shocked when a news reporter asked him if he was "the gay governor". What he didn't know was that the reporter, Jason Jones, was from The Daily Show. Jones was interviewing Blagojevich about his executive order requiring pharmacies to fill prescriptions for emergency birth control. Jones' questions, caught the Governor off guard and at one point he turned off camera to ask, "Is he teasing me, or is that legit?"

White_hart_hotelroad.jpg No room at the inn for a gay London couple. The details of this courtroom drama following a gay couple's visit to the White Hart Hotel in rural England in which they were also locked out and threatened with a beer tap masquerading as a handgun plays out like a British episode of Judge Judy. I would have probably booked myself out of the hotel immediately if the hotelier said my boyfriend and I had to sleep in separate beds. Although it seems to me the smug hotelier at the White Hart has some kind of bigoted chip on his shoulder, the whole encounter also seems like a case of she said, she said.

road.jpg Ann Coulter opened her piehole at Indiana University Thursday night, spewing her usual immature invectives, and even got in a jab at the gays. When one student (with apparent speech difficulties) stood up and asked her "if she didn't like Democrats, wouldn't it just be better to have a dictatorship," Coulter replied, "You don't want the Republicans in power, does that mean you want a dictatorship, gay boy?" The President of the College Republicans defended her: "If you are going to talk like you are gay, then Ann Coulter is going to call you gay. Of course, she said it in a spiteful tone, but it was expected."

  1. Obviously someone feels this woman needs a forum, and worse yet, there are people who want to pay money to go and listen to her.

There is not much more you or I can do about it except ignore her and hope she goes away.

  2. oh my GOD this woman is insane

  3. If she's going to talk like a nasty, steaming, fetid cunt, then I'm going to call her a nasty, steaming, fetid cunt. Of course I did it in a spiteful tone, but that's to be expected.

    What a totally irrelevant slag.

  4. God, she is so full of hatred. My hope is that, during a particularly hateful tirade, she'll spontaniously combust on stage...

Isn't she kind of becoming a lighter version of Rev Phelps.? I'd imagine that her over the top behaviour would work to her disadvantage in the end.

  5. She will go to far one day and it will be all over for her.

  6. The deeply troubling part of this story is that the President of the College Republicans defended her.

  7. I'm already going to hell so I'll go ahead and say it...someone needs to put a bullet in her brain.

  8. Please stop wasting your time reporting on this moron. It's a shame that somewhere out there she has (had) a mother and I couldn't deal with the Karma if the inevitable happened to her and my dreams were to come true. :\

  9. I wish someone would take an enomormous fresh hot dump directly down her throat.

  10. Mr. Towle has provided a great counterpoint to the discussion continuing from yesterday regarding censorship. I find it interesting that no one, yet, has said that she does not have a right to say what she said. There's been a lot of cunt, kill and crazy but no one has said she shouldn't be able to say what she says. That's a good sign.

I am convinced that the right knows what buttons to push to throw us lefties over the edge and behave like morons. In our conversations, all Mr. Schooler needs to do is throw out anti-Muslim comments to make me go ape-shit and toss out invective against him that I later regret. I and many other lefties simply can’t conceive of any person saying what he says and we get a bit irrational.

Ms. Coulter knows what to say and do to get publicity and spin her web of hate to the broader community. Don’t think for a moment that she goes to a generally liberal big-ten university and doesn’t know that the media will be there reporting on her hatred for all things Democrat. My god, she even uses an off-hand, essentially neutral remark about Senator Bayh to discredit him in the eyes of immoderate Democrats…”If Ann Coulter can’t say he sucks, then he must be evil.”

  11. You can rearrange the letters in "ANN COULTER" to spell

That's just scary in its accuracy.

  12. Wow, with such an acute awareness of public health issues, I can't wait to see how the presidential pretender handles bird flue. Yep, the safety and security of Americans is his primary concern.

  14. Having heard the word 'cunt' yelled at my mother by my father for years, I have always found it to be repulsive. I do no use it at all and find it offensive when anyone does. The only time I find myself thinking of it is when I read or hear Ann Coulter. So it is with great time thinking it thru that I take this time to call her a fucking cunt.

a slow death is not to happen, she, like al the other haters, will be around for the end of time, it is up to us to call them as we see them.

    she is a CUNT

  19. Mr. Towle, your comment on blocking is appreciated. It helps put things in perspective. One has to wonder if wishing that someone would kill or calling AC a cunt is not a personal attack.

Jon, I want to go on record, though, that I don't think Anderson Cooper is, in fact, a cunt...a lovely little toy, yes, but not a cunt.

  20. And to think some people accuse gay men of being misogynistic...

    Posted by: Steve | Feb 24, 2006 12:41:04 PM

  21. Ann irritates to expose liberal hypocrisy. She knows a few choice words can turn a compassionate, peace-loving, anti-gun, I- love- women gay liberal into a "cunt"-screeching hysteric calling for her assasination.

    You guys bite everytime.

  23. While they always tie my stomach in knots, I appreciate Andy posting the latest from this walking, oozing sore. And, those of us who want to call her names, or, in person, attempt to shout her down, have just as much right to our free speech against her as she does against us. As for the former, I think that the only thing that might bring this anorexic, professional [she does earn a living by it] fascist to orgasm is being hated, being called names, etc. It's porn to her sick mind. If there aren't whips and a wide assortment of B&D devices in her closet, there certainly are in her head.

As for the latter, shouting her down, while some might consider that ANTI free speech, what I think is more important is to view it as defending the defenseless. I am, no doubt, older than most posters here, and have been out a long time, but I still remember the scalding pain that came with being called Queer! in the fourth grade. Even though there was not a specific-gay rights law on the books anywhere then, and only a couple of tiny gay groups thousands of miles away that basically no one knew about but themselves, my pain was not reinforced went I read the newspaper because there was not an organized, antigay industry as there is now with poisonous mouth pieces like Coulter to be quoted in all of her skilled cruelty. Neither would I have seen her on TV, heard her on the radio, etc. But she, and others like her to one degree or another, ARE ubiquitous now, with endless media venues to spread their disease of hatred and self-hatred. Maybe it is that fourth grader still in me that wants to squash her like the insect she is, but it is the adult who has the ability, and, I believe, the responsibility to challenge her and her kindred evil spirits on behalf of those who are too young today to defend themselves or hear rarely hear strong, affirming voices and opinions counter to hers. It's been mentioned before, but bears repeating as one example alone that justifies in my mind all the reciprocal grief we can give her and those like her. "1000." The 1000 kids a month who call the gay Trevor Suicide hotline. 33 or so a day. 250 a week. 12,000 a year. If driving her from the scene means one kid kept from being driven to suicide by what she represents, I say "Hooray!"

    Posted by: Leland | Feb 24, 2006 1:33:29 PM

  24. "If driving her from the scene means one kid kept from being driven to suicide by what she represents, I say "Hooray!""

Cheer all you want as long as you realize your "but what about the children?!" argument is the same rationalization that other groups (which I'm sure you would like to squash) use to deny free speech, foment hate through name-calling, and justify the use of violence against those they disagree.

    Same coin, different side.

  25. (oh, and in fourth grade, even the queer kids called eath other queer- it's what fourth graders do.)
