Jack Twist's Truck for Sale

Jack_twist_truck

Live out your Brokeback Mountain fantasies in the 1950 black GMC pick-up that Jake Gyllenhaal drove in the film.

The eBay seller claims that it's in "superb running condition" and the interior has been restored. Bidding is currently at $8,000. Somehow I doubt that it'll reach the value of those old Western shirts, but who knows...

"Fast or slow, I just like the direction you're goin..."

  1. Can I get to sniff the seat?
Actually Jakey gets to see the princess-pups in Lureen's T-bird, not this flivver.

  2. I beg to differ about the pickup truck...when Ann Hathaway's character and Jack have their intimate encounter, they are in the backseat of a four-door sedan, which I presumed belonged to her...because he still had his pickup truck at the rodeo when they first met...so presumably. since Jack was poor and travelling around to rodeos, it was her daddy's car they were in.

  3. It's a charming pickup... lots of character. I'm sure the seller will have no problem selling it for well over 8 grand, as long as it runs better than it did in the film.

  4. oh yes, you're right about the T-bird. My mistake. Although I'm sure Jack and Ennis probably exchanged a few things in this tight cab.

  5. That's a sweet little truck for 8K. Too bad it would probably cost half that amount to ship it to Los Angeles.

  6. His pick-up truck? Stop the insanity! The damn truck is a death trap, it has no seatbelts, crush-zones, or airbags.

And people think Star Trek and Star Wars fans are over zealous in their devotion...

  7. Um, Star Trek and Star Wars are science fiction aren't they? Things that don't really exist? Or is that the point you're trying to make about Jack and Ennis? I can't imagine calling someone dressed as a cowboy a freak, but I've certainly called a grown man in a klingon costume much worse than that.

  9. "crush-zones"

first off, i believe it's 'crumple zone'

    second... who cares!

it's a beautiful truck. 'brokeback' or not.

get over yourself Lincoln Park Trixie.

  10. I can't imagine that the truck would not yield a profit for a seller, but for any collector, would it not be a key piece of memorabilia.

Yet, I am surprised at all the sales of the movie props. Yes, I will not be surprised when more intimate articles of clothing and certain tents and sleeping bags, let alone motel sheets, become part of the EBay offerings.

  12. we've traded the ruby slippers in for white trash cowboy drag. we've come a long way, baby.

  13. But we haven't traded our cynicism for anything...apparently. I guess you gotta hold on to something.

Anyhoo, I would paint it immediately. It looks like the truck version of that car in the horror movie The Car. Otherwise, it’s not terrible.

  15. The truck is cool! Being almost 58, I can completely identify with Ennis and Jack in Brokeback. I've always been out, but my three older brothers are still living those lives in blue collar Maryland. Glad the movie came out and I hope people are enlightened once they view it.

  18. I'm thinking about getting a credit card with cash back reward program. But I don't know if there is a trick in it. May be I will never spend enough money to be eligible for the reward. Please, give me advice. Help me with the deals at

  19. Man, this truck brings back some serious memories. I am getting all misty eyed just looking at it. My grandpa had one of these with about 250,000 miles on it in Missouri!
