Duane Michals in L.A.
If you've ever wanted to pick up your very own Duane Michals photograph and you live in L.A., you're in luck. The Fahey/Klein gallery is about to open a show of his work, starting on April 6th. I've long been a fan of Michals' particular way of seeing things; the power of his vision resides in his ability to provide just enough handwritten language into his images to provide an emotional charge. If you're not familiar, stop by the artist's reception this Thursday from 7-9. I wish I could. And sorry for the crappy reproduction of the shot above. That's my doing, not Duane's.

it's a crystalline blue sky here today in Minneapolis - made all the better by the presence of your post today Andy. and yes, Tyler - he is brilliant. I think Michals has such a poetic and lyrical photographic style, infused with a homoerotic charge that places his subjects in the crosshairs between wish and real. coupled with the Morrissey & Brokeback releases tomorrow, my arts trifecta is complete.

I love the photographic repros on the site. Is it possible to read the script. The physique isn't shabby either? I prefer that description of God's creation more than that of his supposed representative on the other.
